Pumpkin' pickin' time!

I love this tradition they have at our kids school - Book Cliff Elementary.  Every year they get to go to a pumpkin patch here in town and every kid gets to pick out a pumpkin, they decorate it at school and bring it home.  We all love it!  I got to go this year and help out.  Katelin and I were so happy to be able to go!!!

Varsity

This years Varsity team.  Megan, Jamie, Michaela, Taylor, Felicia, Dallice, Sydney.  Burke had me come to the HS when the girls were getting their yearbook photo taken.  We are going to do a fun thing with these photos at the end of the year.  We had some fun.
They do this "thing" Perching, planking, creeping.  It's too funny NOT to get a picture of it.  HAAAA!  They are great.

Sometimes they do this creepy walk all together on the court, had to get a shot.
It's been a great season!  They ranked 2nd this year and head to State next week.  GO LADY PIRATES!!!

V-ball

At the beginning of the season on of the girls on the Volleyball team told Burke that he should change up his shirt.  It said "You wish you could HIT like a girl!"  She suggested crossing out girl and put COACH, because he hits at them pretty hard in practice to get them movin'.  He told me this idea the other day and I said - let's do it!!!  I have iron on t-shirt vinyl, so we created this:

Front view, remember he can't just smile.  Hahaha!  And the back, I added the Coach - the rest was already there.  I love it!  They thought it was great.

Katelin needed some playing time after we did it.  They are so cute!!!  This was at lunch time.  Burke gets to come home for lunch everyday, except for the months he is on lunch duty.  We love to see him for a minute in the afternoons.

At the game later that day, the only senior V-ball player this year, Megan played her last home game.  CRAZY!  We just love Megan.  She is an amazing athlete and works so hard in everything she does.  They honor the seniors at this game, so it was her time.  The juniors present her with a gift and her parents come down on the court for pics with her.  They are amazing parents too.  They travel to every game - and our games are FAR AWAY.  They are great.

Last home huddle.  I love watching them play.  They are really great girls.  Burke does a great job coaching them.  I'm grateful he's able to do it.

Thrift Store Marathon 2011

My friend Heather had this fun idea one day that we should drive to Provo and then hit a bunch of Thrift stores and yard sales all the way back home to GR.  SO, we did it!  Saturday was the day and it was so much fun!!!

We even made t-shirts for the day that looked like this:  (Heather created this also.  I know, she is amazing! We picked out what fabric we wanted to use for each item and then used fun iron on stuff.  So cute!)
We took one vehicle, we've found out that next time we'll have to caravan with a bunch of other ladies that want in on the fun.  Who knew this would be such a fun idea to so many!  On the trial run was, Allisha, Heather, Taffee and me.  Super fun ladies to spend the day with.  Oh, and Allisha brought little Lindey who was quite the trooper.
I laughed a LOT on this trip.  I'm glad they all survived with me!  :)  Here are some of the funny finds.

Taffee was cracking me up with all of the funny hippy-wear she was finding, random books and creepy dolls.  I think we laughed all day long, seriously.  Our abs got a GREAT workout!  Hahahaha!  Thanks Taff!!!

Heather modeled this hat for me and found this awesome fury purse, ewe.  I wouldn't be able to touch that thing, ever.  How could you wear it around as a purse??!!  Amazing!
I don't have any crazy pictures of Allisha or myself.  Hehehe - WHEW!  Except THEY had cameras too.  I'm scared to see what is on them.  I may have to add some other pics they got later.

We went to some pretty sweet consignment shops that had great ideas.  I saw this idea on the Nate Berkus Show a while back.  They cut coffee tables in half and bolted them to the wall to make shelves.  I could never pull it off, but it's a pretty fun idea.

This antique shop had outrageous prices!  Really cool to look at though.  Heather is up there on the stairs looking at a cool little play set she actually owns.  It was selling there for $45!  WOW!  So hold on to all of your kids toys they'll be worth something more someday.
This book cracks me up.  Taffee told me not to open it because scary things happen in the movies when you open books that look like that.  Hahaha!!!!!  I'm so glad we didn't or we'd be in some game somewhere and you wouldn't see us for a very long time.  Good thing she stopped me!
Oh, another creepy doll, riding in a sweet car.  NICE.
We did find great clothes for the kids and saw some awesome craft ideas at some of the stores - we went to about 15 stores/yard sales that day!  AMAZING!  I didn't take a picture of any cool stuff, only silly.  Next time I'll remember to take pictures of the cool stuff too.

Oh, but this was cool...on the way home, the leaves were beautiful!!!!!  I had to roll down the window and snap some shots.  Oh how I love fall - it is amazing how all of these trees just change colors.  They are so beautiful.

We had a great time shopping, talking and laughing.  THANKS LADIES!!!

Ladybug

A couple Sunday's ago we were given the parts for our kids Primary Program.  During Sacrament meeting I was looking over it and told Katelin that she gets to say, "My favorite thing that Jesus created is...." then she gets to choose what she wants to say.  I was talking with her about it and she decided she wanted to say that her favorite thing He created are Ladybugs.  This will be her first primary program she is in so she was a bit confused what this whole thing was I was talking about.  Then after sacrament meeting I told her she had the scripture in primary today.  She wanted me to help her.  So I went in and waited for it to be her turn.  When they called her up I went up with her told her what to say and she said it ...and then at the very end of the scripture she says "Ladybug".  I looked at her like, what???!!!  And all of the kids and adults had a good chuckle.  I realized she thought this was when she was supposed to say her part.  I explained it to her later that we will do that part another Sunday.  It's so confusing all we want them to do, I guess!!!!!

We LOVE soccer!

I seriously love watching my kids play sports or participate in anything for that matter.  It is so cute!!!  Kaleb has been our soccer player.  Kaiya tried it when she was super little and hasn't wanted to do it again.  But this year she really wanted to give it a try again.  She is loving it.  Kaiya has really come out of her shell this year in 2nd grade.  She's always been a funny girl at home, but she's letting out that personality at school also and it comes out on the field, she cracks me up.

She was running so much she got tired and sat down to take a breather.  She put her hand on her head like that, she's so dramatic.  It didn't take her long to get running again, whew!
Here she is getting there before Havier.
And she got it!  There first game was last week.  This kid always gets the ball, so she looked at him and did that thing where you point to your own eyes and then theirs and said "I've got my eye on you!"  The coaches were cracking up.
This picture made me laugh because it looked like she grew a third arm out of her armpit.  Her friend must have been right behind her.  Funny.
High fives for everyone.

Cute boy.  Kaleb had already played a game and I didn't even know it!  I know, weird.  He didn't play last week until Kaiya was finished, so I didn't even think to look at the other teams playing while I was watching Kaiya's game.  I thought he was just off practicing!  It's a good thing they play two times.

Kaleb has gotten better and better each year.  I love watching him play.  He makes a great goalie too.

While Kaleb was playing Kaiya and Belle taught Katelin and Samantha how to play.  They had so much fun.

Crafting

I wanted to do a craft with Katelin the other day.  I had seen a pumpkin like this one on a blog a while back and decided this would be the one.  We had fun doing it together and decided to do it for our pre-school craft the next day.  They turned out really cute and the kids were excited about it.  I can't remember what blog I found it on, but I just took a 12x12 paper and cut it into 12 1inch strips.  Then you connect all of the ends and lay them out flat on the table so it forms a sun like circle.  I used hot glue to stick them all together. Then you take one at a time and fold it up to the center and glue those together at the top.  Roll up a strip of brown paper for the stem and wrap a green pipe cleaner around it for the leaves.  Glue those on.  Done.  If you are a visual person like me then that did not help you at all.  So sorry.

THEN, I finished our photo name plaque thingy!!!!!  I've been wanting to make one of these for a while and finally got all of the pictures taken, printed out, found a board, painted it, modge podged the pics on, done.  WHEW!  I hung it above the kids art.

I wanted to get more of a close up, but it was a bit hard since it's so wide.

I had a lot of fun taking pictures for this.  I have other letters too, but not the whole alphabet...yet.  I've taken pictures at my house, at the park, just around town, in San Diego, lots of places.  Pretty fun project!

Chicken News

We are getting eggs like crazy.  The regular size that we get are the size of egg on the right.  The middle size is a double yolker, we call it.  We've gotten those a few times and were pretty impressed, BUT today we got the one on the left!  HUGE, right???!!!  We thought it must be a triple yolker.  We were going to find out, but today Kaleb picked it up and accidentally broke it, so we'll never know.  Oh well, good thing we got this picture before that happened.  Amazing!!!!!
