Stuff we've been makin'

One day the girls and I decided to make some caterpillars out of egg cartons. They turned out pretty cute. (i don't know why this is underlining!)

Then I wanted to make something springy for our island counter top to brighten things up a bit. I saw this flower idea in a Stampin' Up book I had just gotten and thought I'd try it out. And I found this little wooden butterfly in my craft stuff and modge podged some paper onto it. Then printed out a Happy Spring. Done. Bright and fun.

I made this "When We're Helping We're Happy" chart a little while ago, but just finished it up last week. My step-dad gave me a bunch of those advertisement magnets to use for something crafty - so I found these job chart pictures and glued them onto them! They work great! Thanks Dave! I wasn't sure how I was going to do that.
And last week I found this beauty at our local Thrift Store. Yes, we have a Thrift Store, SO exciting! It was a bit of a mess and I was SO excited to make it a cute little book shelf for the girls room. They were in need of one badly. The box holding some of their book before was breaking and just messy. So I was excited for this.

I got this for a whopping 2 bucks. So great.

BEFORE:
AFTER:
I painted it with some orange that I had, cut out some velum flowers and polka-dots. Then modge-podged some scrapbook paper onto the shelves and - DONE.
The girls added their books and we're SO excited. Love it.
And for our Easter FHE on Monday we made these monsters. I hadn't seen this kind before. The kids thought these were great.

Green River Easter

Our ward did an Easter Breakfast at 8:00 am last Saturday. It was cold. We bundled the kids up and ate and left. They didn't do an Easter Egg hunt this year because the City was doing one later that day. So that worked out great! So we got to go home, warm up and then head out again.

They split up the hunt into age groups. Loved that idea. Then the little kids actually got some eggs!

Kaiya just finished up her hunt and scored big. Sally loved the madness too.

Here's Kaleb hunting with his group.

Notice Kaleb and Kaiya's mouths? They are both doing the same closed mouth smile, how funny. And can you guess what Katelin is saying? Yep, CHEEEEEEEEESE!!!!!

Hats and Dirt

Each of the kids decided to go find a hat before they went outside to play on this day. They never wear hats so I thought it was really funny/strange/cute. Here's a pic of each of them in their hat of choice:
Katelin always seems to have dirt on her face when she plays outside, never fails.

Then another day, they all wanted to play in the dirt of their choice. Kaiya filled a hole with dirt and anything else she could find.
And Kaleb found some old potting soil that he dumped and began to battle with all of his super hero's in there.
Katelin decided to join Kaleb in the super hero fun.
I like it when they make messes, outside!

Girls and Hair

Here's a couple other fun hair styles we've done recently.

This one was fun, easy and cute to boot. I LOVE those kinds on a morning when I need to be quick, which is most mornings. HERE is how to do it.

This particular morning they got to go to "Dad's and Donuts" with Burke. So it was an extra special day. So much fun!
We loved this one. She is letting me get a bit more adventurous every once in a while. So this one was fun for a Sunday. The instructions are HERE, if you wanna give it a try! ;)
They both were wearing these tutu's on their heads as flowers. Katelin wouldn't let me get a picture with her's on though. Cute hair style huh? haha.
And then I finally made a bow board for the girls. Well I actually just used a piece of cardboard, covered it with some quilting batting I had. Then I covered it with some fabric that would match their room, put some ribbon and quilting pins on it and WALA!!! Fun stuff. And now we can find the bows much easier.
Oh, and we can't leave out Sally's hair-do we did the other day! She is in major need of a hair cut, and can barely see. So I put in little piggies for her. She didn't like them much and got them out somehow a short time later, but the girls loved it!

And a close-up. We are getting her hair cut while we are in Salt Lake over the weekend. Thanks goodness!

Need some kid Conference ideas?

Well here ya go! I found a blog with some really fun ideas for Easter Conference things for the kiddo's. Thought I'd share! :) I love doing something to get them involved at least a little bit during conference. They have liked participating in the past too. Some of these ideas are "Eastery" too, so even more fun!

I'm doing THIS one for my kids for sure. The word one for Kaleb and the eggs into the basket one for the girls. Kaleb may want that one just for fun too. Such cute ideas!

THIS link has a simple Temple Sewing idea for little kids, a coloring page of the First Presidency and a bunch of links for other packets and things.

Happy printing!!!

Oh, these are all from the blog "A Little Tipsy".

She's done it again folks!

Remember the Crockpot Banana bread??? Well, I tried it and we really liked it. My sis Juli did too - she added choc chips, yum. I did one regular and then another time I added some cocoa and cinnamon - YUM! It was great. This next one, Glazed Cinnamon Coffee Cake - in the crockpot, looks amazing - haven't tried it yet. I need some stuff from the store for this one. Thought I'd throw it on here. Click HERE for her recipe with lots of how-to pics also. This is also from Smashed Peas and Carrots blog. Let me know if you give it a try.

Yay for SPRING!!!

Hasn't the weather been SO nice???!!! I am SO thankful for it!!! The kids have just wanted to live out in the backyard. It has been so wonderful. We got this Moonsand stuff from Burke's sister Chalei for Christmas. I got it out the other day when I had some friends over to make bows and stuff - I put it on the deck for the kids to play with while we crafted. I didn't remember to get pics of them all, but they had a lot of fun with it. And my kids haven't wanted to clean it up yet. Too much fun!

Here's Kaiya giving me her best smile with the sun in her eyes - haha. She gets so into her work. What a cutie.
I went outside to take pics of the kids playing because they were having so much fun. When I got out there I found this not so happy girl:
Kaleb was so nice to help her out and make her happy again after she had gotten hurt. Then she looked like this:
All better. :) Hope this weather lasts!

Latest projects

I've learned how to make some new hair bows for the girlies. The ones on the right Kaiya helped me with a while ago. I finally got some clips on the back so she could wear them for St. Patty's day. She was happy about that. And the ribbon flower bows on the left I learned how to make HERE on That's So Cuegly. I love those. They are so cute, fun and easy to make!

I was using this shelf in my scrapbook room to hold ribbon and other scrapbook stuff. I didn't need it in there anymore and looked all through the house to see where it should live next. I hated the old towel holder we had in the kids bathroom and it just needed something new in there. So it now lives there and I love it because the kids can put the towels up so much easier. Now I don't find towels lying on the floor. And I can decorate the shelf - NICE!
My friend Heather started up this Stitching Bee and we go to her house and she's got a pattern for us and we stitch away. This was the first one we did. I hadn't done anything like that in years, so I was pleased with how it turned out. Now I just need to iron it and find it a cute frame.

I'm totally doing this. FUN!

He's got my vote!

Jr. Jazz

Kaleb started Jr. Jazz last Thursday and just had so much fun. This is the only picture I got. I'll have to get more through out their games, but I just cracked up when they were all stretching. They were all making all this noise and saying "owww, it hurts". And watching them doing jumping jacks and dribbling around the court. It was quit entertaining. I loved it. Look at his little smiley face while he's stretching out those legs. Such a cutie.

Cookin' Kaiya

I taught Kaiya how to make Cheerio Treats after church yesterday. They are super yummy and easy. She had fun stirring and stirring and then plopping them on the wax paper. She's a natural, what can I say?! :)

The final product. Mmmm. She was pleased.

Katelin didn't help out much, but she did put her apron on to pretend. And she did help out with the eating part, if you can't tell by her messy cute little face.
I enjoyed cooking with Kaiya, I need to do it more.

Oh, here's the recipe if you want to make some too:

Cheerio Treats

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup corn syrup
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 5 cups Cherrios
  1. In a large sauce pan, combine sugar and corn syrup. Bring to boil over medium heat.
  2. Allow mixture to boil for one minute and remove from heat.
  3. Add peanut butter and vanilla to mixture and mix until smooth.
  4. Add Cheerios and mix until all coated.
  5. Drop mixture by spoonful onto waxed paper and allow to cool. Enjoy. (I get about 2 dozen from this recipe. It all just depends on how big you make them.)

Just had to throw this on here really quick because it is so awesome. I never thought of making a bread in the crockpot - have you!?!??? So cool. Even though I haven't made this yet - I need to wait for some bananas to go yucky, I am definitely going to as soon as I can. Let me know if/when you try this.

Here's the link: It's on Smashed Peas and Carrots blog for : Crockpot Banana Bread. And when it's done it looks like this - (pic from her blog)

Fun with cousins

Cousins are just the best. An immediate best friend. Someone you are always excited to see no matter how long it's been. My kids just LOVE their cousins. Everyone that could, came to see Alvin and the Chipmunks - the Squeakquel. It was pretty dumb, except the parts with the girls in it - I needed more Chipettes. They were adorable. The kids on the other hand thought it was AWESOME. Kaleb heard me tell someone it was kind of dumb and he quickly corrected me that it was Awesome. So sorry. But the AWESOME part for me was watching the kids and hearing them crack up at the silliness. Thanks for coming - everyone that could! We loved you company for sure. :) I love how we took up the whole row. And we were the only ones in the theater, so we didn't care if they were loud and talking, it was the best! Then we headed to my mom's for lunch and played around. I needed that. :)
