Let's go to the movies!

On Monday we took my sister Juli's two older kids Afton and Porter to see the movie Monster's vs Aliens (or whatever it's called!) with us. They had already seen it, but not the 3-D version. So we got our sweet 3-D glasses and they were so excited with just those we could have probably just turned around and gone home! It was hilarious watching it with kids. They were SO loud every time something looked like it was coming out right at them. They would scream and Porter would always say "hey, that hit me in the head!" And then Kaleb would sit on the edge of his seat and reach out to touch whatever it was coming out at us. I enjoyed watching them even more than the movie for sure. It was so much fun.

Memorial Weekend

We got to stay at my dad and his wife Gail's home on Saturday night. We haven't stayed there in so long, the kids were so excited and had such a fun time having Grandpa tease them and play hide-and-go-seek with Grandma. It was a short, but fun visit. :)
Kaleb just had to climb the tree and then get his picture taken in it. He's such a cutie.

Later that day we met up with my sister Robyn's family at the Memorial Estates Cemetery to visit my brother Jeremy's grave. It was a beautiful day. We went at a very busy time, but it was still nice and looked so beautiful with all of the flowers everywhere.

Robyn and Steve brought some pretty roses from their rose bush at home.

Erin's 30th birthday party

My sis-in-law turned 30 last Friday. For her party my brother Ryan and her decided to rent out the Bountiful recreation swimming pool. We all had a really fun time. The kids played in the shallow area with all of the little slides and squirting toys. They LOVED it!!! Thanks Erin for turning 30 and having a great party. LOVE YOU!!! :)

Last day of school

Yes, we're DONE!!! This school year went very fast, I can't believe it's over already. Kaleb had a great time in 1st grade. His teacher was amazing and his friends are growing up just like him. I tried to go early to get friend pics too, but I was too late! Oh, well. They will be the same kids in his class next year, but I just wanted to get pic's each year as they grow and grow. Burke went to grad night on Thursday after graduation where they played basketball, volleyball, had guitar hero play offs, and LOTS of food. They did some other things also, it went until 4 in the morning and he stayed the whole time. What a trooper. It's not like a normal High School where only the seniors can go party because there would only be like 15 kids there - that was how many were in the class that graduated! The whole school 7-12 are invited. It made for a much funner party.

Kaleb and his sweet teacher Mrs. Hunt.Burke and Kaleb in Burke's art room just finishing up a few last things.
Burke saved some treats for the kids from the party the night before. They were so excited.
It's also Katelin's birthday (post below) we did a lot of running around. She had fun through it all.
Now for the busy summer...

Happy birthday Katelin!!! :)

Time flies by! It really doesn't seem like that long ago that I had this little cutie. She was so tiny and sweet.

And now she's SO BIG and loves to help and play and be big. We LOVE watching her grow and learn. It goes so fast, but we're just enjoying each moment. I can't believe my little baby is TWO!

Katelin helped me make her cupcakes. What a great helper! Hahaha, so sweet.
This was one of the times when she allowed us to sing the birthday song to her. Other times in the day when we'd sing or someone else did that knew it was her b-day she would get this mean face and get so mad. Hahaha, it was really quit funny. I'm thinking she's heard that she's now in the terrible two's and she's acting the part I guess.
She enjoyed eating popsicles on the new grass while we worked and worked.
We played with lots of fun balloons.
The kids were so cute and wanted to give Katelin something of their own that they knew she liked. Kaiya gave her this mat and wand that comes with a cute princess dance DVD. Kaiya got a couple of Christmas' ago and doesn't use it anymore. Katelin LOVES this. And Kaleb gave her a couple super hero toys that she likes to play with. They're such thoughtful cuties.

It was a fun day together. We're going to do some things over the weekend with family and celebrate some more. We sure love this little one.

New grass!!!

We finished the sprinkler system for the back and laying the sod! Whoohoooo!!!! That was a HUGE project. I'm realizing that is one of the things I miss about living near family also - we can't just call them up and say "come over we're laying sod and need your help!" We did have two of the young men come over and help out on Thursday for a couple of hours and that was GREAT! But other then that we did it all by ourselves. The kids were so funny. It was like Christmas in May. They ran around on it and made up all sorts of games, Burke and I were cracking up at how much they were loving it.
We still have a lot of work to do, but we're getting there. We're going to take out the rest of the old grass that is up above the new stuff and build small retaining walls and have that all be flower beds and make some stairs that will come down to the grass. Right when we finished everything it started raining a ton and did so all night long. The grass was loving it. It was amazing timing! Yay rain!!!

We haven't got to much of gardening since we've been spending all of our time on leveling out the grass area. But this is what Burke did get done just before that. This is all of the watermelon, cantelope and cucumbers. He made this watering system. He built up the mounds of dirt and then laid the pipes over it, then we planted the plants and he drilled holes in the pipe over each of the mounds so when he waters it each one fills up quickly. Pretty cool huh?!

Fun with friends

My friend Danielle lives at the WAY other end of our street - I mean WAY other end near the Book Cliffs - there's only two other houses up where they live. They own lots of land and raise cows and do lots of other things over there. We went over to play in the water with them the other day and the kids had such a fun time. It takes about 15 minutes to drive there. We see lots of cows and fields that are starting to grow corn and watermelon. It's such a pretty drive. One of the mountain tops over there near there house sticks up and that's what Kaiya follows as we go there. Once we start driving she looks for it and then she says "I see Popsicle Mountain Jill!" Yes, she named it that and I have know idea why. It's pretty funny though.

For Reals?!!!?

We had Stake Conference on Sunday and Elder Cook came because we were getting a new Stake Presidency. The night before I told the kids that an apostle was coming to our Stake Conference the next day. Kaleb's eye's got really big and he said "for reals!?!!!" I was surprised at how excited he was. It was really cute. He wanted to know what he looked like so I got the conference Ensign and showed him who he was and he just kept looking at all of the pictures and even took the magazine to bed with him and looked at it for a while. The next morning he reminded Kaiya that Elder Cook was going to be there and showed her the picture again. And when we were there we were in the VERY back of course, but they had the big screen down so we could see him well. Kaleb got a cute smile on his face because he knew who it was. It was really fun to see him so excited about such an exciting part of the gospel - that we do have a living prophet and apostles here on the earth to lead and guide us and when we can see one up close it's really exciting and neat. I'm glad to have had this experience to strengthen my testimony even more of this sweet truth that we have here in this life. :)

Fun in the yard

Burke and I, mostly Burke, have been digging and digging and digging in our backyard. We are taking out the weedy grass that is there and a bunch of dirt to level it out flat and then do some fun stuff with it. It's going to take a while, but it's slowly coming along. The sprinkler system is partly in now and grass is coming next week - then for the little retaining walls for flower beds, etc. Whew! It's hard work. The kids have REALLY enjoyed the mud though. Except for Katelin. She thought it looked really fun until she got in and played for about 2 seconds and she was done and ready to get cleaned off. Kaleb and Kaiya loved it forever until they had to get hosed down. Mostly Kaiya did not appreciate that - she hated it!

We'll post pictures when it's all done. Or you can just come and check it out yourself! :)

Guitar Concert 2009

Burke's guitar classes had their end of school concert yesterday. They did it as an assembly the last hour of school. The kids and I headed over to enjoy some fun music.

I'm just posting two of the video's cause it takes FOREVER to load one of these up. I wanted to post this one because I think it's so cute how the girls in the audience sing along with them. I tried to get Kaiya and Katelin bobbing their heads up and down, but my camera was focused in too close. They were loving it.

This video is the senior girls in the class - Brandi, Bailey and Crosby. They did an AWESOME job! The girl singing is Crosby and I just love her voice. It's sad these girls are leaving, but I guess they have to move on with life. It will be fun to see them graduate next week. They're such good, fun, talented girls. This is Kaiya's favorite video, she likes watching and singing along with it even though she's never heard the song before. So cute.

These concerts are always so much fun. The kids get to pick out songs they like and learn to play them. This year a lot of the kids decided to sing along with their playing, which is so much fun. Last year Burke did the majority of the singing to their songs because they wouldn't. I think since he did it so much it made them not so worried about it and realized it's fun. It was fun hearing their voices and seeing them play at the same time. Burke is glad it's over, but I know he's proud of them for performing so well.

baby Eden

My sister Juli's sweet little baby Eden had complications with her sweet little body. Juli was able to carry her until she was 25 weeks along and then little Eden passed on. We were able to go to the graveside funeral for her last Monday. Juli and Arik have been so strong through it all although it has been so hard at the same time. I know they were uplifted and helped by our Heavenly Father through it all. They are really great examples to me.

Arik and Eden's big brother Porter carried her to her resting spot. Porter was such a big boy that day helping out. He is really so sweet.

The Beesley family. It was a short and very sweet service. I'm excited to meet little Eden Anne someday.
All of the kids walked around the cemetary looking at everything. They were so sweet together.
Juli and my sweet dadio.

Afterward Juli and Arik's Relief Society had lunch all ready for us at the church. It was so nice of them to feed us all. Here's a picture of my brother Ryan and Katelin just before we were about to leave. He knows just how to play with her and make her laugh and laugh. It was so cute.

A little something

I haven't posted forever!!! We have been busy working in the yard and spring cleaning in the house - so I just haven't done blogging for a while. I need to get pictures off of my camera. I'll do that soon. So for today I wanted to post a recipe I've told my sister's about. So give it a try if you're clueless about what's for dinner. I'm not a super huge spaghetti fan, but this one isn't in a bunch of sauce and you cook it all in one pan - SO GREAT!!! And I usually have most everything to make it and if I don't I just don't put it in - or substitute something else - like celery instead of green peppers if I'm out, etc. You can just make it your own. Here it is:

One-Skillet Spaghetti

1 pound ground beef
2 medium onions, chopped
1 pkg (7 ounces) ready-cut spaghetti - I use thin spaghetti and just break them in half.
1 can (28 oz.) diced tomatoes, undrained
3/4 cup chopped green pepper
1/2 cup water
1 can (8oz.) sliced mushrooms, drained
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup (4 ounces) shredded cheddar cheese

In a large skillet, brown beef and onions; drain. Stir in uncooked spaghetti and the next eight ingredients; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 30 minutes or until the spaghetti is tender. Sprinkle with cheese; cover and heat until melted. Yield: 4-6 servings.

And the kids even love it - bonus! :)

Jordan's Baptism

Jordan is my nephew and we're so glad we got to go and see him get baptized. It was a really fun day to be together with family. He's such an 8 year old - goofy and cute. He was making all sorts of funny faces and Kaleb kept laughing so his eyes are pretty much shut in the picture of them together. They are such fun friend/cousins. We went to my sister Robyn's house afterward for lunch and the kids had a blast playing together.

Later we went to my moms house where she gave the girls make-up to play with and hair stuff. They LOVED doing make-overs and felt SO pretty afterward.

Kaleb's 1st Pinewood Derby

Kaleb attended his first pinewood derby last week. He's in the Tiger scouts - it's for 7 year old kids. I guess we're the only ones in Utah that does it. There's a mom here who is really into scouting and her son is Kaleb's age so she's doing it this year. Kaleb's car won some of the others, but didn't place in the top three - which was ok with us because you had to go to Moab for another race if you did. Whew! It was really fun to participate in though and see all of the little boys running back and forth with their cars and watching them race. SO much fun!

The leaders had candy bars and life savers for the kids to make cars out of before the race. Yum.
Kaleb was happy eating it all up.
It was fun watching Burke and Kaleb enjoying the race.
Kaleb and Kaiya sat on the side and watched for a while also. I told Kaiya she just couldn't touch the flags. So she would yell accross to me "Mom, can I put my head under it?" or "Can I just touch the flags?" After many no's, she finally just watched the cars go by and had fun.
Here's Kaleb's car. Burke carved it down and put weights in it for him and Kaleb decided to color it with markers and write SPEED on the top. He loved it.
