Kaleb's confession

Since Kaleb's kindergarten class is full day they have some time after lunch that is "rest" time. During this time the kids lay on the floor where they get read to and rest. If they fall asleep the teacher lets them keep sleeping and all of the other kids go back to their desk and work. So the other day Kaleb told me that he fell asleep during their rest time and I was shocked because he doesn't do that. Then the next day he told me he fell asleep again, but this time Burke was there and didn't believe him. So he asked Kaleb if he really fell asleep or if he was just faking it. Kaleb began to smile and then said, "well, I didn't want to do work." I thought maybe he and a friend decided this, but he said nope it was just him all alone fakin' it! I just had to laugh, but then we told him no more "sleeping" he's got to do the work like everyone else. So since he was busted he now gets to work. haheha

What we're up to

It has been the busiest month of my entire life. The main thing that's been keeping us busy is that we're packing and have been doing paper work to buy a house! I haven't posted anything about it yet cause I didn't know when we were closing and everything. But we should be closing by this Friday. There's just one inspection guy that has to go and check things out and he's been out of town. Then the family we're purchasing from were going to live at her parents house for a while wherever they live and now they just sold there house and don't have a new one yet! Crazy. So we've given them a week after closing to make sure they have everything packed and know where they're going. So hopefully we'll be moving in by next weekend. And we are SO excited! Yippeee!!! I was going to do a drive by picture shooting this morning to post a picture, but decided against it. With my luck they'd walk outside right when I took it and they'd be in the picture and I'd feel like a wierdo. So anyway, I'll post pics when we move in.

I got to do my classes yesterday at our Stake Relief Society get together. It was such a fun day sharing and listening. I got to share one of my mom's stories of my Oma (grandma in German). I finally got my mom to do a blog of my Oma's stories and of others in her family. They faced many challenging experiences in Germany and she's beginning to post them on her blog. Some of the people wanted the blog address to read her uplifting stories. So I thought I'd also let all of you know who I haven't told yet to check it out if you want to. Workout time

We went to the gym at the High School tonight to exercise/play. It was so much fun. We're so lucky to be able to go there whenever to hang out. The kids bring balls and toys and run around and Burke and I get to run or shoot hoops or hit the volleyball around. It's fun. I had to take a picture of the volleyball on the wall since that's Burke's sport. And Kaleb is getting dizzy spinning on the pirate. I kinda got a shot of Katelin's scrunchy smile there, but I was holding her so it was hard to get a good angle. I'll try again, but there's a glimpse of it. Fun, fun.

9 months old!!!

Here's my cute Katelin eating away - or I guess I should say drinking away. She's 9 months old today! Time is going so fast. She's just so much fun to have, we all love to make her smile her cute scrunchy nose smile. It's so funny, she does it all of the time! We're having so much fun watching her grow.

Aquarium fun

Kaleb and Burke had today off for President's Day so we hung out in Salt Lake a bit longer. Before we left to head home we went to the Aquarium in Sandy with my sister Tiff's family. It was fun to go with them.

This was a cool painting on the wall. Tiff and I thought it would be a great idea to get a picture of the kids by it. So we put them up there on this box, but Riley (her little boy) didn't quit feel like it so he jumped off - so Kaleb jumped off too and then Kaiya. I decided to hurry and take the picture before they were all gone and this is what I ended up with! You can see Kaiya's little pony tail at the bottom. Tiff and I just cracked up at that. I think her picture was about the same.
Katelin had fun hanging out in the stroller when we first got there, then she wanted out! But bringing the stroller in wasn't a complete waste cause we put all of our coats and cameras on it and Reagan had a turn to sit in it later too. Strollers are great!
This was a fun little play area for the kiddies. I kept getting that front kid in my pictures on accident! I was trying to get my kids and Riley! I failed.

Party time!

We had a party for Kaleb right after school on Friday with his school friends. It was really fun. We played BINGO with these cards that had just pictures on them. Then we played Pictionary. It was so funny because they would come up with their own idea to draw and the kids would just guess and guess. Sometimes they got it and other times I think the kid would just say yes cause he was done making them guess. It was adorable. They loved it. Kaiya had fun hanging out with Kaleb's friends as usual too. He got lots of really fun presents too. Then we went to Salt Lake and had fun with family! He had a great birthday.

Snowy Day

It snowed quit a bit yesterday so after we took Kaleb to school Kaiya wanted to make a snowman. So here's our little guy.
Kaiy enjoyed eating lots of snow. She's showing me the snow in her mouth. Mmmmm!
And this just cracked me up! This guy all of the sudden appears coming around the corner while we're outside playing. He's just plowin' some snow in his HUGE tractor thingy. That's Green River for ya. Just grab what ya got and go plow! Funny. I think he was really enjoying himself though.

baby Kaleb

I was trying to add these with the post below, but it wouldn't work. My favorite ones won't load on for some reason! But I found some that would work that I love too. I wanted to post some pictures of Kaleb as a little lad too since it's his b-day week. He's such a sweetie!

Burke bought this Haloween binky for Kaleb before he was born. He was so excited for him to use it. It was so funny to see him suck on it, we would just laugh and he didn't know what was so funny.

It's so fun watching him grown and learn and be his own little person.

I can't believe my little Kaleb is turning 6 on Friday! We were watching home videos the other day and he really used to be a little tiny baby! I can't believe it. Now he's big and can do so much on his own and has his own opinions and thoughts - it's amazing!

Katelin's crawling!

Yes, she is now crawling forward instead of backwards. I love being in another room and see her head pop around the corner. It's so adorable.

Kaleb's Crush

Kaleb has a crush on this girl that's in the 9th grade! We have this community calendar that has a picture of each grade's class per month and he asks me to take it down so he can look at her. Tonight I heard him telling Kaiya that he's going to marry her. I broke it to him that she's quit a bit older than him and he said that was ok. I asked him what he likes about her and he said her smile and her sweater. Cute.

Gratitude

I was asked to teach a lesson on gratitude for our Stake education week type of thing. I get to teach it three times and then we have lunch and then I get to go to some classes. It will be fun, mostly the second half cause then I can relax and enjoy. I've really had a fun time studying though. I've been looking through this book Burke gave me a while back cause I really wanted it and heard it was great. It is by Mary Ellen Edmunds and it's called "You Can Never Get Enough of What You Don't Need - The quest for contentment". It's a great book and she's so funny and has great ideas. I'm using some of her stuff from the Gratitude chapter. I wanted to share a few things with you for fun. So she talks about how if we are bringing ourselves down by things we don't have or aren't who we think we should be then we need to stop the negative thought and replace it with gratitude. She shares quite a few examples, some of them are funny, and others serious. Some really were good for me. Here are a few of the ones I liked:

"It's a fact that I don't have a college degree...but I've got the equivalent plus some post-graduate work from the learning that has come to me from my life's experiences."

"My teenage son acts like he can't stand me at all. . . but he's sure dependable when it comes to breathing; I have never had to remind him to do that even once!" (i love that one)

"It's so hard being homebound . . .but thank goodness for a telephone, the internet, the postal system, a doorbell, sun coming through the windows, and some great friends."

"It's true I don't have many of my own teeth left . . .but it sure cuts down on the cavities." (haha)

Anyway, those are some I liked. I think it's a great idea so I've started to try and do that and stop negative thoughts by replacing them with gratitude. Hopefully I can keep it up! My cousin Brynn seems to have mastered this - she's always so positive about everything in life! Thanks for your great example Brynn!

Shakespearean Festival

The community center holds a Shakespearean Festival each year here. They held it at the highschool this year cause the community center is too small for how many people attend it. There was dinner and a little program. Burke's choir sang a song and some other kids did a dance - it was so much fun and good food! The kids got their faces painted and they got a ring pop! They also got to make a coloring book with different print outs they had for them of castles and dragons and stuff. It was such a fun night hanging out with the community.

Yah, my baby can do the downward dog. I know, I know, the talent in my family!!!

Weekend in St George

Burke had a Music Education conference in St George this weekend and we got to go and play while he was in classes. It was so much fun and nice weather! The highschool let us take one of the school cars and they paid for the conference and the hotel - great deal huh?!? So I decided to fork out some money and take the kids to this cool wildlife museum they had there and let them pick out a couple little toys they had there in the gift shop. It was really a cool set up and Kaleb even mentioned how he liked how cool they decorated it. They loved it. I felt like it was such a break for me. Kaiya pushed Katelin around in the stroller and they looked at everything while I just walked slowly behind commenting as we went along. It was really nice.
I also took them to the St. George Temple visitors center. That was nice to walk through there with them. They have some of those cute kid videos like at Temple Square where the kids answer questions about gospel topics. We had just looked at a picture of Jesus on the cross and Kaleb and Kaiya were asking questions so I explained it to them. Then one of the kids in the video answered a question about it and Kaleb looked up at me and said "that's what you said" - I was so glad our answers matched - I was just impressed he was really paying attention! We got back last night. It was nice to get away for a minute. Oh, and I forgot to take any pictures, crazy me.
