Lagoon with the Girls

My sisters and I were going to go to the Lilith Fair last Monday, but it was canceled. Our husbands had got us tickets for Mother's Day. So we decided to go to Lagoon instead since we had already planned on spending the day together. Let me just say it was a lot of laughing fun. We squished each other, well mostly Robyn, on rides, screamed a lot, ate yummy treats, laughed some more, learned that the slow umbrella ride that takes you across Lagoon terrifies Juli and Robyn, laughed some more. Whew! What a FUN day. :)

We went to some small scale circus there. We didn't really know that's what it was before we went in. And by that time we were right in the middle and could not get out. So we just made the best out of it and cracked jokes and watched the weirdness unfold. This lady freaked me out how she could twist her body all around. Lots of crazy fun.
We picked out a prize for our kids in this little shop and we had to pose with the crazy sunglasses on. I wonder if people actually wear these.
Here we are waiting to go on the spider ride. Those rides are just so much fun.

My mom wanted us to get one of these Western photos taken together. I had never done it and it was really fun - and HOT in all of those clothes. That was a crack up getting all ready. We had a lot of fun with that. Thanks mom!

Dance Festival

Our region did this Dance Festival in Grand Junction, CO on Friday and Saturday. Each stake learned a different dance to perform there and then they all did one together for the Finale. Our stake had the 60's. They have been learning these dances for months, so it was neat to see it all in action.

This is my friend Danielle, she is the YW President in our ward. I am her Laurel adviser. Such a fun calling. There was a dance, well they called it a sock hop, on Friday evening. The kids had a blast, and us leaders did too. We made fools out of ourselves dancing around, but we had no one to impress like the kids did so it was great! :) Haha, I think we embarrassed them a few times though, cause we'd start dancing around and they would magically disappear.
Here are the girls in our ward in their 60's outfits. We had one boy come too, but he was in the boys dressing room, of course. So we didn't get a picture with him. Too bad.

Here's all of the kids doing the finale dance. They really did a GREAT job!!!
Here's all of the girls in our stake that participated in the Festival. Such cuties.
It was an exhausting weekend, but we were really filled spiritually and had a blast too. Glad we got to participate in this. Carmen Rasmusen from Season 2 of American Idol came with her husband and spoke to us on Friday also. She told them of many experiences she had during her experience with American Idol and how she had many hard choices to make to stand up for the gospel during this time. And she did it! She shared stories of how she had to say no to many outfits and get something modest to wear, the people caught on and would find her modest things to wear. And others would watch out for her with language and jokes - they made a rule that if someone was going to say something inappropriate they would first shout out "earmuffs!" and someone close to Carmen would cover her ears. Haha, the kids thought that was so funny. Anyway, it was great for them to hear all of her experiences to see that they can do it too. It just has to be a choice they make and stick to it - and they will be blessed. Great fun! :)
