Decorating fun

So the other day my friend, Heather, put up a picture of a cute bulletin board she got to decorate for her husbands class. He teaches at the Elementary. I told her if I asked Burke if I could decorate something at the High School he would give me "The look". Then later on he mentioned that nothing was being done with the sports bulletin board in the gym for Volleyball and that I could decorate it if I wanted to. I was SO excited. It was really, really fun. I had Burke draw some volley balls on it for me. They turned out great!

ok, I guess I was in a posting mood, because I posted 4 new ones tonight - so scroll on down! :)

Beautiful Bookcliffs

The sky was so pretty tonight. We were at the High School and so I snapped some shots of the Bookcliffs in the back of the school.

The one on the left that sticks up is right near my friends house. Kaiya calls this Popsicle Mountain Jill. I think it is pretty funny. My friends son hates it when she calls it this because he knows the real name, but it doesn't stop her. It is now and forever Popsicle Mountain Jill to us. :)

First day of school

Kaleb and Kaiya started back to school on Tuesday - and Burke. He left too early for pictures! This year Kaiya was SO excited to start and Kaleb was not. They both are really enjoying their new classes though. I was so glad to hear that. Kaleb is in the third grand and Kaiya in first. Kaleb said he wanted to be in the 3rd grade forever because it was so much fun. Then the second day came...and they did some work! Hahaha, that made me laugh. He still likes it though, I just don't know if he still wants to be in it forever. I think Kaiya was mostly excited to start so that she could wear her new clothes. Typical girl right? She's a cutie. I had to get Katelin a couple of new shirts too so she didn't feel left out of all of the new clothes fun. She told everyone that she was wearing her new school shirt. Some were a bit confused since she's not in school, but that's ok.

Kaleb and his Sally

Can you feel the love??? This is how he shows it. Sally hasn't caught on yet. She's not feelin' it! OK, sometimes she thinks it's fun and she just lets him do whatever. What a good dog!

Have you seen this?

The kids and I looked at this blog today called Milas Daydreams. This lady has thousands of followers. It is crazy! She is on maternity leave. When her baby takes a nap she decorates a theme around this little sleeping baby. It is pretty cute. And it seems like it would take her a lot of time to set all of these themes up. My kids just giggled at every picture. Have fun looking! :)

Summer fun

Last Saturday I was doing a lot of this:

Because we had a lot of these: Mmmmmmmmm.
So I had the kids go out and do this:
When I looked at the picture in the camera I was wondering why I couldn't see the water stream from Katelin's shooter. Then I saw it, shooting into her neck. Hahaha, that was so funny. They had a ton of fun outside shooting each other with water, running through the sprinklers and drinking punch (always better to drink that messy stuff OUTSIDE - perfect).

We also picked apples and made yummy applesauce. Kaleb is so impressed every time he eats it that it actually tastes good and we made it!
These two mostly just played on the ladder, which is fun too.

This is our second watermelon of the season. Yes, it's HUGE!
But, when we opened it up it was another yellow one! Those are fine, but it's just not what I was hoping for. I'm waiting for a yummy, juicy red one! Burke didn't even remember he planted these ones again this year. They always grow so great.
Kaiya's Kindergarten class planted sunflower seeds in a cup last year. And it doesn't fit in that cup anymore. It always amazes me how big those things get. I think we need to send this picture to her teacher.

Volleyball has begun

We got to go with Burke to Tabiona for the Volleyball teams first game of the season on Friday. We rode on the bus. The kids, especially Katelin, were so excited to ride on the bus again.

The girls liked watching out the front window. I had to tell Katelin to sit down about a million times, but she had fun, so that's all that matters right?!

The boys shared a seat. Burke is getting ready for his classes to start next Tuesday. So he was preparing on the bus the whole time.
When we got there - 2hours and 45 minutes later - the kids noticed the playground right away and wanted to play. I told them we had to take turns watching the game and then we'd go play, and so on. So that's what we did. I wish I could have watched more, but they probably wished they could have played more. That's just how different our brains work right?

So I took pictures as they played.
I used to love these things when I was a kid. Now, I think I would just puke.
They had never played on a Teeter-Totter before. They kept forgetting what it was called and would just call it a Tater Tot. I got a good laugh out of that, and told them what it was and they thought that was funny too.

I asked Kaleb if I could take some pictures of him to try out the blurry background and he kindly let me and gave me some adorable smiles. I can't believe he's going to be my third grader next week.
Kaiya posed with her sandwich in every pic...I took quit a few. And she'd say "take another", and then pose with her sandwich again. She was crackin' me up!

Katelin got the hang of pumping her legs to go back and forth on the swing, but then she just wanted to be superwoman. That's fun too.
I know I put this for my blog header, but I had to put it here too because I just LOVE it - and in case I change the header- then I'll still have it somewhere. They were being so good to let me take their pictures so I could try out different things.

They sure love each other. And i love them. Such cuties!
The Volleyball team - GR Lady Pirates, did a GREAT job in their first game of the season!!! They won! Hope they keep playing so well together. It was really fun to watch them play.

Weekend in SLC

First of all, let me just tell you - I got my NEW CAMERA!!! And I love, LOVE, love it!!! SO, that means lots of random pics cause I'm learning all that it can do, and that's a lot! It's a Canon Rebel T1i. So much fun. OK, you've been warned. I am learning though that the files are huge so blogger is having a hard time when I try and load 5 at a time like usual. Hmmm, so maybe I won't load as many as I'd like. Need to figure that out.

My step-brother's son Cannon got baptized last weekend. Luckily we were there and got to go. Here's the row of all the cousins on my side sitting together. That's not even all of them.

We stayed at my sister Robyn's house Saturday night. Sunday morning we got the kids all ready and then I took a bunch of pictures for fun. Here's one of them. Jared wanted to hang out with the girls. They are more fun. :) I don't know what the boys were doing. I missed shooting them. Next time.
Sunday evening was Riley's family birthday party. We stayed and went to that too. Lots of fun and yummy food.
Tiff and I were taking pics of each other taking pics. We though this one turned out pretty sweet.

My dad and his wife, so sweet.

Aren't my sisters just adorable???!!!
Um, just a random sunflower with a bee on it. I was trying out one of my lenses for an up close shot.
Riley's 5!!!
Tiff took a bunch of Reagan as she pulled her elastics out of her hair. She was done for the day I guess. She just kept posing for her. Such a doll.
Oakley found the yarn and thought that was pretty interesting. She's almost one, so much fun to see her new "tricks".
We had a packed visit. Glad we fit it all in. OH, Jack Johnson concert was that Friday night, the 13th, also. FUN!!!!! I need to get some pics from someone that brought their camera. That was a really fun date night.

I made a shower curtain!

So, I found this material on a Walmart $1 table. I just loved it and thought one day I'd make a shower curtain out of it. Yah, that was like 5ish years ago!!! BUT if I didn't wait I wouldn't have found THIS idea on Make it and Love it. So, it was worth the wait.

I LOVE the flowers. So fun.

Ya know, I just love that website. She just tells it like it is, you Make it and then you Love it. That girl knows what she's talkin' about.

AND your kids Love it too. I finished this while the kids were sleeping and (hey I should make a craft blog called While The Kids Were Sleeping - cause that's when I do lots of stuff - hmmm, the wheels are a spinnin' HA!!) ANYWAY - in the morning Katelin went in the bathroom and noticed it and told Burke "Hey, that's a good one! I like it." He had her go and tell me what she said, it was so cute.

SWIMMING!!!

Like last year, we got a family swimming pass at the KOA here. We LOVE going swimming!!! Especially since summers are just SO HOT, it's nice to cool down in the pool. The kids have really gotten better at swimming also. It's so much fun to watch them progress summer to summer.

Katelin has been doing this funny thing lately. You can't tell to well in this picture, but she loves to get up on the edge and jump in and then when she come up out of the water she says she got a little water in her nose so she will pretend to blow it. And the funny thing is she knows how to blow her nose, but here she plugs her nose and does kind of a raspberry thing with her mouth instead. It is so funny. We've had many a people cracking up at her over the summer from this. She's so much fun.Kaiya has learned how to swim under the water and a bit with her head out of the water also. She likes to sit on her life jacket and float around.

Kaleb is just so much fun to watch also. He's doing so well in the water. He can swim pretty good now and feels very comfortable in the water. He loves going under and finding things on the bottom of the pool. He loves to go to the pool, wishes it was everyday.
And then the sun warms us up. So nice. The pool closes to us townspeople this Friday... sigh. Until next summer pool!

Castle Dale Pageant

I had never heard of this pageant until we moved here to Green River. I'd only been to the Manti pageant with family when I was younger. This one is more pioneer related. Burke's parents met us in Castle Dale at the County Fair. We hung out there, played, watched a Cowboy Hypnotist, ate and then headed over to the Pageant.

Before it started there were all sorts of things to learn about that the Pioneers did.

Games:
Kaleb is playing one of the games on our nice and bumpy wagon ride.
Katelin and Kaiya helped out making butter.
We watched the Blacksmith at work.
And we watched this horse get a horseshoe.

We climbed these stairs to overlook the fun.
They had this dairy cow there and kids could try milking it if they wanted too. That was funny to watch. My kids didn't care to try. Haha, I didn't think they would.
Katelin had the best view whenever she wanted it. Oh, to be little.

There were lots of fun treats to try. Here they are eating their homemade ice cream and enjoying a chat with Grandpa Simmons.
Waiting for the show to start.
Such a pretty view up top there looking over the valley below.

The show was good, not Broadway, but good. Not that I've been to Broadway, I'm just sayin'. GREAT messages though. I really enjoyed that. I really enjoyed the patriotic part at the beginning where they had people from the audience stand when their army song was played and a horse with that flag would run to the front through the water. Really neat. Gave me the lump in the throat for sure. They really did a great job putting this vision together.
I'm glad we got to go and spend the day with Grandma and Grandpa Simmons. Really fun day.
